Training for Schools

Pedal Ready deliver National Standard Level 1 and 2 cycle training to children in Y5, 6, 7 and 8 in 3 local authorities in South Yorkshire. We also deliver Level 3 training on a 1to1 basis in Sheffield and Rotherham.

Before booking a course, it is necessary to have a rough idea of numbers. All the children need their own roadworthy bicycle. We find take-up varies greatly, and this affects the format of the course delivered. We normally train at a ratio of 1 instructor to 6 trainees. We deliver courses to 12 or 18 children, and usually deliver a training session in the morning and one in the afternoon.

The course usually takes around 8 hours, and this is done over 4 or 5 weeks.

The first session is delivered on the playground, and the following sessions on quiet roads near to your school.

We need a named contact at a school who will oversee organising the course.

We do not need a member of staff to be present during training, with the exception of courses run in the school holidays, when we need a member of staff to be on school premises.

All our instructors are CRB checked, qualified to deliver cycle training to National Standard and fully insured.

If you are interested in the training, please fill in the form below, and someone will get in contact to set up training in your school.
