Training for Workplaces and Institutions

Increasing cycling at your workplace has many benefits - reducing your carbon footprint, improving the health and fitness of your employees and improving your corporate social responsibility.

Pedal Ready deliver a variety of initiatives for companies. In the past these have included travel roadshows and presentations promoting cycle use as a sustainable and healthy mode of transport, providing employees with a free cycle safety check (Dr Bikes), and offering literature and one to one training. This training can cover starting to ride from scratch, all the way through to advanced riding on busy roads.

We are keen to work closely with companies in the promotion of cycling and may be able to find funding for some of the training from local authorities. If you're interested, please have a look at the services below or get in touch for more ideas.

Cycle Audit

Examining your existing cycling facilities and suggesting ways to fill gaps or make improvements. There may be grants available to help fund these changes.

Cycling Lunch

An energetic lunchtime presentation for members of staff that are interested in cycling to work but haven't yet taken the plunge. This is a chance to discuss the benefits of cycling, and an opportunity to deal with the barriers that prevent them from using their bikes.

Cycle to Work Scheme

Advice on how to set up a Cycle to Work scheme. This is a government funded tax offset scheme that can save your employees up to 40% on the cost of a bike.

Cycle Training

All Sheffield residents and employees are entitled to free cycle training funded by Sheffield City Council. Your staff can take this up right now - just fill in the booking form under the 'Training for Individuals' tab. A trainer will be in touch within 5 working days to arrange training at a time and place to suit you. This can be delivered as a one to one session, or in small groups.

Dr Bike

Dr Bike is available to ensure that your employee's bikes are fit and able to be ridden on the road. Minor adjustments make a big difference, and if there are any problems that Dr Bike can't fix, we can give you advice about where to go next. Dr Bike also promotes cycling as a means of transport and is happy to talk to your staff about all things bike, from one to one training sessions and our Learn to Ride and Cycle for Health programmes, right through to the best routes to use to get to work.

Route Planning

Many new cyclists are unaware of the network of cycleways in Sheffield. Pedal Ready can help them to plan the route that suits them best - whether that's avoiding the steepest hills, avoiding the heaviest traffic or avoiding the red lights!

Cyclist Awareness Training for Drivers

If you've ever had concerns about how to handle sharing the road with Sheffield's burgeoning cycling community, then Pedal Ready are here to help. Our new course is designed to help drivers understand the way that cyclists are likely to behave on the road and to make the roads safer for all of us:

  • Would you like an opportunity to tell us about the common mistakes that cyclists make around drivers?
  • Would you like to know how cyclists are trained to keep themselves safe on the road?
  • Would you like a chance to discuss how you can make life easier for you and the cyclists on the road?
  • Ever wondered what it feels like for a cyclist when you overtake them and why cyclists do the things they do?
  • Want a chance to discuss how cyclists and drivers can share the road space?

Get in touch and we'll make it happen!

Next available courses:
26 November 2010 and 1 February 2011
9am - 1pm
£40 per person.
