New Cyclists

It’s never too late to learn to ride a bike! Sheffield has six new cyclists after Pedal Ready’s first ‘Learn to Ride’ day.
”It's like flying, flowing along in the breeze!” said one new cyclist, who wanted to learn after much persuasion from her daughter. “It’s for exercise, and eventually I’d like to cycle to work.”
The free Learn to Ride days over the summer are aimed at adults of any age and teenagers, and are sponsored by Sheffield City Council and supported by Decathlon.
The Learn to Riders ranged from students to retired people, who said they wanted to learn to ride for their health, for convenience or for a more practical way to get to work.
Another new cyclist had tried and failed as a child and teenager, but this time she was away within ten minutes. “I’m really pleased,” she said. “I already walk everywhere, but I wanted to cycle because it takes less time. Now I’ll be able to get to the railway station in less than half an hour!”
The next Learn to Ride days on 9th and 26th August are already full, and we are now taking bookings for the waiting list for the next sessions we hope to add later, probably also at the Decathlon store.
